Fleet Management
Features
The GLEIKE MINI’s hardware and software
enable companies to maximize fleet management, dispatching and communication
functions at the lowest possible cost and with the greatest security.
The GLEIKE MINI provides:
A wireless modem based on Cellular Digital
Packet Data (CDPD) technology. CDPD is IP-based, inherently secure,
and economical. CDPD uses forward error correction methods that reduce
the effects of air link noise and interference. CDPD incorporates authentication
and encryption to all packets transmitted over the airlink. Each meter
has it’s own IP address and can be independently reached. Ask
ATA/Gleike if a CDPD is avalaible in your area.
A serial link to interface our own peripherals (smart card reader, pin
pad)
A serial link for connection with other smart devices such as data terminals
and the option of a second serial link.
With GPRS technology, the GLEIKE
MINI can process the following functions:
Credit and Debit Card Payment : The network infrastructure
and the service providers guarantee transactions processed with a high
level of security within a short response time (just a few seconds).
Dispatch : The GLEIKE MINI can receive dispatch messages and print
them through the wireless modem . There is no need for an additional
and costly data terminal if the cab does not already have one. The driver
uses one of the meter’s push buttons to acknowledge the job.
Information Service : The office can send short messages to cabs
such as forgotten personal belongings or informing them it’s time
for an inspection.
Taximeter remote control : The office can switch any meter on or
off by a secured message. This function is very useful to manage the
meter rentals. Each meter can be remotely set or reset without returning
to the meter shop.
Localization : The GLEIKE MINI is able to use data provided by
the cellular network radio towers. The localization accuracy depends
on the radio towers density but in cities it is within a one-mile radius.
Switch to a new tariff : A new tariff structure can be loaded at
any time. When the switching date occurs, a short message is sent to
all the cabs to immediately switch to the new rate.
Taximeter monitoring : The GLEIKE MINI can send the meter’s
totals (fares for the day or month, number of trips per shift, distance
covered in the hired mode, etc.) or its current status (hired, vacant,
time off, etc.) periodically or following a specific request from the
office.
Update : The office can modify taximeter options and what is printed
on receipts.

With the serial link, the GLEIKE MINI
performs additional fleet management functions
(a second serial link is optional) :
Data terminal interface : Some taxicabs are already equipped
with a mobile data terminal connected to the office by a dedicated
radio link. The GLEIKE MINI can be programmed to interface with such
a device and provide a completely connected on-board system. The peripheral
resources such as the printer, the credit card swipe, the smart card
reader or GPS can be managed either by the taximeter or by the data
terminal, thereby avoiding duplications.
Monitoring : The GLEIKE MINI can transmit recorded information
such as trip histories or the totals (fares for the day, month or
shift, distance traveled hired and vacant, etc.). This data can be
sent by the existing on-board radio or captured by a laptop PC connected
to the meter for storage at the office.
GPS : One serial link can be used to connect an external GPS
receiver in order to transmit the taxicab position. However, the Gleike
Mini offers free localization without the need of a GPS with our CDPD
technology.
The GLEIKE MINI can automatically
perform these fleet management functions:
Access rights : The fleet manager
can control the time the meter is working by entering an access code
at the beginning of the lease. As previously noted, another security
feature is that the meter can be wirelessly disabled.
Shift Management : The fleet manager assigns each driver an ID
that he must input when starting a shift. The taximeter can be programmed
so that it only works during a given period.
Warning Messages : To remind the driver of compulsory visits
(oil changes, periodic inspection, lease date expiration, etc.), the
taximeter displays a message well before the date. In case the lease
expires without being renewed, the meter displays an error code and
stops workings. The meter can be reset with a new access code or by
wireless transmission.
According to your regulations, some of these features may not be avalaible.
